Description

Nabor Soliani, General of the Genio Navale, and naval engineer who amongst other things, designed the Agordat class torpedo cruisers and the Mirabello class destroyers, proposed two cruiser design in 1920 described as light battlecrusiers. The first version which you can see here was equipped with 2 twin 203mm, 6 twin 102mm and probably 12 single 76mm guns as well as 4 twin 533mm Torpedo launchers near the main turrets. Very few info was available about the design other then the armament the displacement would be 10.700tons with a speed of 34knots.

Coloured version to be found here:

The other revised version features almost the same armament just the main guns replaced with much larger twin 381mm cannons and because of this the torpedo launchers were more further from the turrets, essentially creating an Italian small Courageous! You can find it here:

Only 2 drawing exist of the proposals, this is the current version:

Ah, the early days heavy cruisers... I always liked the Hawkins, Furutakas and Pensacolas, regardless of them being crappy ships... also, this thing looks a lot like a Kuma class light cruiser... it's nice to hint at cooperation between the Axis navies...
